Plasma spraying

Plasma spraying

◆◇◆ What is Plasma Spraying ◆◇◆ Plasma spraying is a process that uses a plasma jet generated by a plasma spray gun to heat and accelerate spray materials, bringing them to a molten or near-molten state before spraying them onto a substrate. The diagram illustrates the principle of a plasma spray gun. As shown in the diagram, when a voltage is applied between the cathode and anode, a direct current arc is generated. The working gas (such as argon) supplied from the rear becomes ionized, producing plasma. Then, the spray powder material is fed into the plasma flame using the working gas (such as argon), forming a spray coating.

Plasma spraying

Thermal spraying on the sleeve, oil seal section of the screw shaft, and thermal spraying on the gland packing of the sleeve with flange.

This is an introduction to Kōei Techno System's "Plasma Spraying," which focuses on the repair, regeneration, extension of life, and maintenance of parts, aiming for high quality, wear resistance, heat resistance, and anti-corrosion of components, similar to preventive medicine, through advanced research and development of machinery. The plasma flame generated by the ionization of inert gas serves as the heat source. With ultra-high temperature and high-speed frames, it forms high-density, high-quality coatings on not only metals but also high melting point materials such as cermets and ceramics. Since the temperature of the plasma jet can be selected, there is great freedom in material selection, and it features high adhesion between the substrate and the sprayed coating. ● Spraying onto sleeves ⇒ Photo 1 ● Spraying onto the oil seal area of screw shafts ⇒ Photo 2 ● Spraying onto the gland packing of flanged sleeves ⇒ Photo 3 *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Osaka Fuji Industrial's thermal spraying technology: water plasma spraying

The thermal spraying technology of Osaka Fuji Industries, active in a wide range of industrial sectors.

The mechanism of this device is designed so that the high-pressure water flow supplied to the torch creates a cylindrical over-water flow inside. In this state, when a voltage is applied between the carbon cathode and the iron rotating anode, a direct current arc is forcibly generated, causing the water on the inner surface of the over-water flow to evaporate and become plasma after decomposition, continuously generating a plasma arc. This plasma arc is constricted by the swirling cylindrical water flow, increasing energy density, and due to the rapid thermal expansion of the plasma, a stable plasma jet flame at high temperature and high speed is ejected from the nozzle. The maximum temperature of the plasma jet flame can reach approximately 30,000°C, making it easy to spray even high-melting-point ceramics. ● For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Osaka Fuji Industrial's thermal spraying technology - Gas Plasma Spraying

The thermal spraying technology of Osaka Fuji Industrial, active in a wide range of industrial fields.

In an operating gas such as argon or helium, a voltage is applied between a tungsten cathode and a copper nozzle anode, generating a direct current arc that dissociates and ionizes the operating gas, continuously producing a plasma arc. This is then constricted by a cooled nozzle, ejecting a high-temperature, high-speed jet of over 15,000°C. By feeding powder into the plasma jet and accelerating it while melting, it is possible to spray high melting point materials such as ceramics. Furthermore, the plasma jet stream can blow molten particles onto the material at high speed, allowing for the formation of high-quality spray coatings compared to other spraying methods, and there is a wide variety of spray materials available. ● For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Atmospheric plasma spraying

Due to the ability to perform thermal spraying at low temperatures around 100℃, there is no thermal impact or distortion on the base material!

"Atmospheric plasma spraying" is a spraying method that can spray all materials, including high melting point tungsten carbide and ceramics, which were difficult to spray using metallizing and thermal spray. Since the plasma flame itself is inert, it is possible to obtain pure and low-oxidation coatings even with low melting point metals like aluminum and copper. Please feel free to contact us when you need our services. 【Features】 ■ Capable of spraying high melting point materials ■ The sprayed coating is extremely dense ■ A hard and dense coating that can sufficiently resist hard plating, etc. is obtained ■ There is almost no thermal impact on the base material *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Plasma spraying is "Spraying Processing.com"

A group of specialists in thermal spraying processing. We handle various processes from pre-treatment to finishing!

It is a thermal spraying method that forms a high-temperature, high-speed plasma jet in a gas such as argon through a high-current direct current arc discharge, and performs melting and acceleration by introducing powdery thermal spray materials into this plasma jet to create a coating. Due to the extremely high energy density of the plasma jet, temperatures exceeding 10,000°C can be achieved, allowing for the thermal spraying of most materials, including high-melting-point metals, cermets, and ceramics. Additionally, since the temperature of the plasma jet can be selected based on the generation conditions, there is a high degree of freedom in material selection, and it has characteristics such as high adhesion between the substrate and the thermal spray coating.
